Monte Tamaro

Monte Tamaro is a mountain in the Swiss canton of Ticino, above the village of Rivera.
The facility has a valley, middle and mountain station, as well as a rope park,
a toboggan run, a Tyrolienne and a restaurant. All systems are equipped with the n-tree system.

INTERVIEW WITH STEPHAN RÖMER ( PROJECT MANAGER MONTE TAMARO ):

Why did you choose n-tree and not a provider that specializes exclusively in mountain railroads?

We previously had a supplier who was not specialized in mountain railroads. Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with this supplier. The decisive factor in our decision in favor of n-tree was, on the one hand, the flexibility of the system with its many options and, on the other, the following points:

  • The company is based in Switzerland with support and technology.
  • Although a certain stability of the product/system is predetermined, you still have a certain amount of freedom to contribute ideas so that the system constantly adapts to customer wishes and needs and continues to develop.
  • Many providers sold their system as flexible, but on closer inspection these were clearly predetermined and there is little to no opportunity to incorporate your own wishes and requirements. With n-tree there was always a proactive solution approach.
  • A good sales manager (Bruno Maurer) ;-). Bruno took a lot of time because he knew that we had had negative experiences with the system before. He was able to clarify all questions and concerns before the project and give us the security we needed for this project.
  • The openness of the system was also important to us. In other words, how well can we access the database and the other elements of the system ourselves and how much can we do in-house as a first level and not have to transfer everything to the hotline. It was important to me that we could do a lot of things independently.

You were very actively involved in the whole project. How did you experience the whole pre-project and project phase?

Very positive, n-tree was very well organized on all sides. Even when Yanick and Co. were with us for the installation… I have never seen a company that is so well organized. Even after that, when setting up the database, everything just worked and there was never an emergency where we had to call support. Even afterwards, when setting up the database, introducing the system and during the first few days of operation, everything worked perfectly and stably. During the implementation phase, there was only one tricky point regarding the combined tickets. Combi-tickets, for example, which offer rides up and down the mountain combined with admission to the rope park. Although only 1 ticket is booked, this must be split in the background for accounting purposes. That was the only tricky part of the implementation, as there was only one accounting account in the system. In the end, we were able to find a solution for this too. Now everything works smoothly.

n-tree has promised you that you can do a lot yourself on the system and have a high degree of flexibility. Has this been confirmed for you?

Yes definitely, for all of us. Not only in terms of flexibility, but also in the speed of the system, which is very important for us. Last year, for example, we had 3 tills for what we can do today with 2 tills.

What was the innovative highlight of our solution that you integrated?

The combination of all the factors I mentioned above. The interface to Trekksoft and n-tree pay / Payyo is of course also exciting and has topped the whole thing off. I have only needed support twice so far, both times when there was a cash register failure. The support team responded superbly and called in the relevant specialists to solve the problem quickly and professionally.

Bruno Maurer has assured you of a development that allows you to flexibly serve a wide variety of discount groups at the checkout. Was this promise kept in terms of time and quality?

Yes, that was the starting point for our collaboration with n-tree. We would not have been able to use the system without discount groups. Bruno promised us this during the interview. And as promised, everything was fulfilled by n-tree.

Would you recommend n-tree?

Definitely yes. We already have! We had actually expected more problems with the implementation of the project. And in the end,the entire project implementation went off without a hitch.
